The term “Retailing” refers to any activity that involves a sale to an individual customer. In India, the unorganized retailing sector comprises of 96.5% while that of organized sector just 3.5% that is mainly in major metropolitan and urban areas. Indian retailing traditionally dominated by a small family run “Kirana” store. Retailing in India is the second largest untapped market after China. Professional management and strong customer focus characterize organized retailing.
